Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog. 🤗 Now I can say it: I'm back to writing. And I'm doing it like before, having fun, but with an addition that until eight months ago I would have sworn wasn't for me. And instead, as often happens to me lately, I had to change my mind. Let me explain. In the last post I mentioned rereading the manuscript I'd abandoned for months, and something finally moved. 🤔 And no, don't smile like that: I'm not talking about that thing. Come on, pull yourself together and let's move on. 😁 I told you there was something to do. Today I'm telling you there's a lot, actually a lot, to do. I wanted to give a character an identity and I said to myself: "Let me take a look with Copilot," the artificial intelligence installed on all Windows 11 PCs. And I have to admit it's helping me a lot, even in writing some parts of the manuscript, which is a fantasy. 🤖I was convinced I had already written almost half the work, because the story is the product of my imagination and I already knew its beginning, development, and conclusion. So I didn't ask much of the AI. But little by little I realized that, with its help, I could enrich and improve the manuscript. 🤓 In the sense that I can ask it to describe places, legends, or details that I had only hinted at, without going into too much detail. And AI is really good at this type of work. So why not take advantage of it? Then, from what it writes, I make my own "cracking"—let's call it that—and take only what I need and what I like. And that's precisely why I realized how much work there is still to be done. 😒 I know, it's not like writing in one go like I've done so far. But this thing of writing a page and then asking the AI something amuses me, it stimulates me, so why not? After all, to delete a file, all it takes is one click. In the Q&A post I had included an excerpt from the manuscript. Well, I'm reposting it here, revised and corrected by AI, so you can get an idea of what I'm doing. I'll add the link at the bottom of the post. New excerpt The meadow stretched out like a sea of green, dotted with blades of grass swaying in the wind. The stream, not far away, flowed clear and ancient, carving out a deep bank that seemed to hold forgotten secrets. Nearby, four teenagers—two boys and two girls—ran and laughed, tossing a Frisbee that shone in the sunlight like a small artificial sun. Further back, two women sat on the grass, deep in quiet conversation. Beside them, a girl of four or five was bouncing a colored ball, following it with the absolute concentration only children possess. Each bounce seemed to draw her a little further, toward the bank, as if something were calling her in a silent voice. Then it happened. The ball slipped from her hands with an unnatural leap, almost as if driven by its own will, and rolled down the slope. The little girl remained still, her eyes wide open, as the toy sank deeper and deeper. If you read both excerpts, you'll notice that the writing is completely different, partly because I asked the AI for a slightly more fantasy-like style. But the sense of what is about to happen is the same: the little girl, the ball, and the embankment. I know it's no longer my authentic writing, but—in my humble opinion—it seems much improved. And so I said to myself: let's keep going like this and then we'll see. But today we haven't talked about him yet, about my novel, already available online: Extraordinarily Parallel Lives. I'll leave the link below, if you'd like to purchase it. I'm telling you about it also because my authentic writing isn't there: I had it corrected twice, and something got lost, even though it was enriched by those who revised it with words and phrases more beautiful than mine. The meaning, however, remained the same. So now I want to try to do the same with the new manuscript, using AI, to see what I can come up with. While we're at it, I'll also tell you the genre of the stories already finished and awaiting publication: they talk about family, sports, some mystery that will be revealed little by little. And yes, there's even a little love. 🥰 Did you think I hadn't included it? I did, I really did. Now it's really time to say goodbye. See you in the next post. Bye bye.🤗
